Great Resource for Finding Ancestors...

War Records of Alabama

New 120 Page Booklet

If your great great great grandfather was from Alabama and was an officer in the Confederate Army, he might be found in this excerpt taken from Alabama: Her History, Resources, War Record and Public Men by W. Brewer, originally published in 1872. The spiral bound booklet is 8 1/2 x 11" and is printed on 60# paper. A vinyl sheet protects the front cover.

After "Preliminary Observations and a brief section on the War with Mexico, the booklet gives the history of each Alabama unit organized during the War Between the States, beginning with the First Alabama (Infantry). The booklet tells where each unit was organized, a brief history and the names of the "Field and Staff" officers, indicating what town or county they came from, and what happened to them while in the particular command where the name is found, such as "promoted," "resigned," "wounded at Gettysburg" or "died at Richmond."
