New 72 Page Illustrated Booklet

Participants in the American Civil War from the tri-county area of Randolph, Monroe and Perry Counties in southwest Illinois are recalled in this newly printed 8 1/2" x 11" spiral-bound booklet. The booklet, an excerpt from the hard-to-find 1884 book: Combined History of Randolph, Monroe and Perry Counties, Illinois, originally published by J.L. McDough & Co. of Philadelphia, is printed on 60# paper. A vinyl sheet protects the front cover.

"The sentiment of patriotism, so generally felt in all parts of the land, was strong in the people of Randolph, Monroe and Perry, and nobly did they respond to their country's call, sending many of their brave sons in defence of the Union."

The booklet gives the names of regiments, usually a brief account of their movements, and a Muster roll of the men from each county by company, including rank and when they were mustered out, or if they were killed, wounded, etc. The infantry regiments with over 10 names include the 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 22nd, 29th (Colored), 30th, 31st, 43rd, 49th, 60th, 63rd, 71st, 80th, 81st, 89th, 110th (Consolidated), 117th, 130th, 136th, 142nd, 149th, 154th, 155th Infantry Illinois Volunteers. The following regiments contained 10 or less area men, and are briefly mentioned: 14th, 24th, 32nd, 34th, 38th, 40th, 44th, 51st, 53rd, 56th, 59th, 62nd, 73rd, 82nd, 83rd, 111th, 128th, 133rd, 146th, and the 150th.

Calvary regiments with over 10 area men included: the 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, and 13th. Those with 10 or less were the 2nd, 10th and the 12th.
