Tipton County, Indiana
New 40
Page Booklet
|
Early days in Tipton
County, IN, and nearby communities are recalled in this spiral
bound booklet reprinted from the 1901 booklet: The History of
Tipton County, Indiana. The booklet is printed one-sided on
60# paper with the print enlarged for easier reading. A vinyl sheet
has been added to protect the front cover.
We have not been
able to find the original title page for this rare document, but
have based the title and original publication date on information
found within the text. Although the original intent seems to be
a history of the county, the actual material covers a wider area
than the Tipton County of today. Towns included are:
Atlanta, Curtisville, Goldsmith, Hobbs, Jackson,
Kempton, New Lancaster, Normanda, Sharpsville, Tetersburg, Tipton
and Windfall.
The
booklet begins with a brief history of the county, which was officially
created in 1844. It then gives a history of each town, noting early
settlers, societies and businesses. The original booklet was filled
with ads from local businesses. We have not included these, but
we have listed the advertisers.
Wouldn't this
make a unique gift?
