Page Booklet
|
Early days in White
County, IN, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales, factual
data and personal biographies in this new 8.5" x 11" spiral-bound
booklet, printed on 60# opaque paper.
The
booklet is an excerpt from Counties of White and Pulaski Indiana
Historical and Biographical. A vinyl sheet protects the front
cover.
We reprinted the
booklet directly from an original edition, which unfortunately had
smudge marks on some pages. Where these could not be removed without
damage to the type, they remain in the reprint. Our 87-page booklet,
which actually includes about 170 pages of the original text, is
entitled:
White
County Indiana USA.
(We
have a separate booklet on the history of Pulaski County.)
Among the subjects
discussed are: Physical Description
-- Drift Deposits, Mound Builders; Indian Alarms; County Organization,
Early Settlers; Early Elections, The Circuit Court; Population;
Old Settlers Association; County Commissioners and other county
and city officials; The Civil War (about 14 pages including the
county's "Roll of Honor"; an ad for a husband; Union Township
and Monticello, the county seat; Industries and businesses; Newspapers;

Bedford, and the town of Bradford (or New Bradford); Big Creek Twp.;

The booklet does
not include individual biographies, but it does mention a lot of
names.
Wouldn't this
make a unique gift?
