Early days in Ashland County, including the communities of
Ashland, Jeromesville, Perrysville, Hayesville and Loudonville, are recalled
through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 52 Page Booklet reprinted from
the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio,
Baughman's History of Ashland County, Ohio, The Ohio Guide, (written by the
WPA) and other hard-to-find sources. The spiral-bound booklet is one-sided
on 60# paper with the print enlarged for easier reading.
IN ADDITION TO THE BOOKLET the buyer will

for framing. These include the picture below of 1888 Ashland, cabin site of
an Indian massacre, and Johnny Appleseed.
Among the many fascinating topics covered in

for the Union Army, the founding of Ashland, Jeromesville and Hayesville,
and Indian activity including two massacres and monuments to the massacre

a list of 1888 county officers and businesses. A 1933 look at the history
of newspapers in the county, an article on the remarkable folk hero Johnny
Appleseed and maps showing the 88 Ohio counties and 1805 Ohio are also included.
The WPA excerpts offer a look at the area in 1940 with historical perspectives,
and several news articles from the 1960s are also included.
