Early days in Fairfield
County, including the communities of Lancaster, Lithopolis, Rushville,
Amanda and Baltimore, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales
and factual data in this NEW 24 Page Booklet reproduced directly from portions of the 1892 edition of Henry
Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio and other hard-to-find sources.
The spiral-bound booklet is printed single-sided on 60# paper with the
fine print enlarged for easier reading.

early prominent citizens, including Ebenezer Zane, Capt. Joseph Hunter,
Samuel Coats, Sr., Hocking Hunter, William J. Reese and William Medill. A
1933 history of newspapers in the county, articles from 1941 on the Wagnalls
Memorial, and "the President's Acre", excerpts from The Ohio Guide
(a writer's project of the WPA published in 1940), a map showing the 88
Ohio counties and a map of 1805 Ohio are also included.
