FULTON COUNTY, OHIO

Booklet/Prints

Early days in Fulton County, OH, including Wauseon, Fayette, Delta and Archbold, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 11 page booklet, reproduced directly from portions of the 1892 edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio and other hard-to-find sources. The spiral-bound booklet is printed single-sided on 60# paper with the fine print enlarged for easier reading.
IN ADDITION TO THE BOOKLET, the buyer will receive THREE 8 1/2 x 11 computer-enhanced prints of engravings in the book, suitable for framing. They are: a view of Wauseon about 1888, a sketch of a Buckeye branch, and a delightful look at an early railroad train.
Among the many fascinating subjects in the booklet are:
the old Maumee Mission, Indian villages, mission schools, sports of Indian children, nut gathering, notables among the Indians, the old blockhouse, Indian trading house, the fur trade (40 cents for rat, 30 cents for mink, $3.00-4.00 for bear), the old council elm, bad white men and an Indian council.

Genealogy buffs will find a list of 1888 county officials and businesses along with biographical information on Valentine Winslow, Col. Eli Phillips, David Hobart, the Howard family, the Rev. Isaac Van Tassel, and Dayton Riley. A 1933 history of newspapers in the county, a map showing the 88 Ohio counties, and a copy of a 1805 Ohio map is also included.
