HENRY COUNTY, OHIO

BOOKLET / PRINTS

Early days in Henry County, OH, and its various communities, including Napoleon, Deshler, Liberty Centre and Holgate, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 15 Page Booklet of excerpts reproduced directly from the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio and other hard-to-find sources, such as the 1940 WPA book The Ohio Guide. The spiral-bound booklet is printed one-sided on 60# paper with the fine print enlarged for easier reading.
IN ADDITION TO THE BOOKLET the buyer will receive THREE Computer-Enhanced 8 1/2 x 11 Prints of engravings from the original Howe book, suitable for framing. These include the one below of Napoleon in 1887, one of Girty's Island, and a drawing of a branch from the Ohio Buckeye tree.
Among the many and diverse topics covered are:
the "Black Swamp"; names of early settlers and the beginnings of Napoleon; and extensive tales about the notorious Simon Girty and his brothers, who were captured and raised by Indians.
