are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this

reprinted from the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical
Collections of Ohio, The Ohio Guide (a WPA Writers project>,
and other sources. The spiral bound booklet is printed single-sided on 60#
paper, with the fine print enlarged for easier reading.

They include: an 1836 birdseye view of Circleville, an 1846 sketch of West
Main St. in Circleville, and an 1886 photo of Circleville.

area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic
glympse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes,
especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. A 1933 look at the
history of newspapers in the county, items from a 1941 history on Chief
Cornstalk, the Logan Elm, Chief Logan's speech, Circleville and Virginia
and Genevieve Jones, mother and daughter bird illustrators, a map showing
the 88 Ohio counties and a map of 1805 Ohio are also included.
